Perfect Weather

The weather conditions were - despite the grim forecast by HK observatory - almost perfect. With 13 - 16 degrees, partly sunshine and mostly no wind, there was no need for long-sleeves, nor was de-hydration a big issue. The windiest and coldest part was on the way out on Tsing-Ma bridge, the most exposed part of the race. However, as soon as back in the Tunnel on Tsing Yi, conditions were mild.

New route - mixed results

There were two reasons for the new routing of this years events: manage the crowds (on the road!) and attract the crowds (on the pavement - for cheering up). While the latter target was only partly achieved - there were hardly a Thousand spectators in Lockhardt Road - many less than there were (unimpressed) Sunday-morning shoppers. But at least the big "human" traffic jam on the race course could be prevented. the only incident was when the elite runners of the full marathon bumped into the trailing half marathoners.

Air Quality

Better than anticipated (smog was virtually "in the air" before the race). Problem for full and half marathoners was - again - the ongoing traffic (stop and go mode) just left and right next to the race track in long Stretches of central and Admiralty, during their respective final kilometers.
